Several prominent UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine doctors made educational presentations at the 80th anniversary annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in Chicago and the 59th anniversary annual meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) in San Antonio.

UBOSM doctors involved in education presentations included doctors Thomas R. Duquin, Christopher L. Hamill, Kenneth A. Krackow, Sridhar R. Rachala, Michael A. Rauh, Christopher A. Ritter and Philip M. Stegemann.

The Academy is the preeminent provider of musculoskeletal education to orthopaedic surgeons and others in the world. UB Ortho experts presenting at the AAOS Annual meeting were:

Dr. Christopher L. Hamill, moderated a session and conducted a podium presentation on: “Adult Lumbar Scoliosis: State-of-the-Art Treatment (Operative and Non-Operative)”

Dr. Thomas R. Duquin and his research team  conducted podium presentations on shoulder and elbow treatments titled: “Peripheral Cytokine Markers in a Novel Rat Periprosthetic Shoulder Infection Model” and “The Clinical Presentation of Hemolytic Strains of Propionibacterum acnes Shoulder Infections”

Dr. Thomas R. Duquin, Dr. Philip M. Stegemann and their research team conducted a podium presentation on shoulder and elbow treatment, titled: “Propionibacterium acnes as a Pathogen in Shoulder Surgery- Antibiotic Sensitivities to Guide Treatment”

Dr. Michael A. Rauh, led a session titled “Implementation and Utilization of Voice Recognition Software”

This past annual meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society marked the 59th anniversary of the ORS. The ORS seeks to promote, support, develop and encourage research in surgery and musculoskeletal disease and related disciplines, while developing and sponsoring educational activities that provide a forum for dissemination of knowledge in the fields.
